This page contains details of the LMA events at which the public are invited to attend. These events are always extremely popular with LMA members and public spectators.  A list of this year's events is presented first and then some reports from previous events to give you a flavour of what you could be missing.


Details of the public displays in 2008 are:
 

Wigan Spring Seminar 9th March (replacement for Southport)

A great way to start the year. Come along and see what LMA members have been up to over the winter. Talk with modellers about their construction techniques. Attend the seminars. Come along and join the LMA. Entry is £1, (all of which goes to local Charities). A map is available here.

Rougham 3, 4 & May

Come and visit this great site for its second show with the LMA. Rougham is near Cambridge.  A map is available here.  

Scottish Air Show - Castle Kennedy 17 - 18 May

Second official year that the LMA has supported this popular Scottish model event, recommended you visit. map here

A well established show on a great site in fabulous countryside hosted by the Northumbrian Model Aircraft Society. Come and see the LMA in the North of England.  A map and accommodation details are available here.

East Kirkby 14 - 15 June

A new venue for the LMA, superb site home to  Avro Lancaster  MkVII NX611 Just Jane &  Spitfire Mk IX MJ627 map here

Southport Show   - on the beach 28-29th June  

This event is a long standing one near Southport but this year has become an LMA supported one for the first time, well worth attending as it's is far more than model aircraft. Use map 1 for Southport here

Cosford 19-20th July

Known as the biggest and best model show in the country. The range and scale of the aircraft flown is truly awe-inspiring. Cosford museum is one of the best in the country as well, from 8 of February the new Cold War section will be open. A real treat of a model show.  There will again be full-size participation from the RAF. Arrangements are not yet finalised, but you can sure we will have something special to show (with the usual conditions of serviceability and weather conditions).

Hastings Airshow 26 - 27th July

  A very popular South coast event that the LMA is pleased to support and recommend. Map here

Rufforth 9-10th August

A well established show with a great reputation. This show joined forces with the LMA a few years ago. A map and accommodation details are available here.       

Much Marcle 6-7th September

A great show with donations of the funds made given to local charities. A great way to end the show flying year. Sponsored by Herefordshire MAC at their flying field just off the A449. A map and accommodation details are available here.

Duxford Airshow 20-21st September

Just off the A505 and M11, a superb event with a fantastic aircraft museum as well as flying from the premier model pilots in the UK. Saturday is static day and Sunday is flying all day. A map and accommodation details are available here

 

At many of these events we will have the benefit of the knowledgeable and LMA member commentator Colin Hammond.
